The daughter, older sister, and close relative of Yusuf Kofar-Mata, the Commissioner for Higher Education, were killed in a fire tragedy that shocked Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State.
In a news release issued on Thursday, the governor’s spokeswoman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that the occurrence was deemed “devastating.”
“We were shocked to learn of the tragic fire that claimed the lives of three siblings of one of us, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, the Commissioner for Higher Education, at his home in the Kofar Mata neighborhoods of the Kano metropolitan area.
Given its terrible ramifications, Kabir said, “it is truly a sad, heartbreaking, and unfortunate incident that will linger in our memory for a very long time.”
In the statement, Yusuf expressed his sincere condolences to the commissioner and his family on behalf of the state’s residents, the administration, and members of the state executive council.
In addition, he prayed that Allah would provide the deceased souls eternal rest and stop such tragedies from happening in the future.
Early on Wednesday morning, the governor escorted state executive council members and other dignitaries to Kofar Mata quarters for the funeral rituals of the Higher Education Commissioner’s departed family members.
