Residents of Kano’s metropolitan Gwale, Dala, and Municipal LGAs have urged the police to deploy more operatives throughout the city and surrounding areas to improve security.

A cross-section of citizens expressed concern and worry over the increased presence of thugs in the state’s protracted emirship dispute.

They urged Governor Abba Yusuf to construct a security network to resolve the matter “once and for all.”

Abubakar Mohammad, a resident of Gwale LGA, described how his wife was robbed by criminals on Sunday. He urged police commissioner Usaini Gumel to deploy additional security forces to bring the criminals to justice.

Abdulmuni Shehu of Dala GA and Aishatu Abu of Dan Agundi have also urged for additional security measures to handle the city’ difficult security situation.

Sani Zulyadain, a resident of Kano Municipal LGA’s Sagagi region, urged the state government to take extreme measures to put an end to the activities of thugs who are terrorizing innocent civilians.

Ishaku Ibrahim, another Sagagi resident, urged Yusuf to intervene in the continuous hoodlum attacks. The citizens are appealing for stronger security measures, such as foot patrols and the deployment of plain-clothes officers, to catch the thugs and restore neighborhood harmony.

They emphasized that the activities of these criminal-minded adolescents represented a substantial danger to the peace Kano had enjoyed before to the outbreak of the emirship conflict.

Mr Gumel assured the residents that the command was on top of the situation.

“We mapped out security measures to apprehend those involved. I am passionately appealing to all the law-abiding and peace-loving residents to volunteer timely and credible information on the movement of hoodlums,” said the police chief in Kano.

Information commissioner Baba Danteye stated that the state government and security agencies were effectively synergising to bring all those behind the nefarious acts to book.

He said, “The Kano state government is fully committed to supporting the Police and other state security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.

“We encourage all residents to join forces with us by reporting any suspicious activities or characters to the nearest security office so that prompt action can be taken.” We can work together to make the environment safer and more secure for everyone.”
