Joe Budden has addressed a particular grievance he has with Big Sean’s lyrical content.

During an interview on his podcast of the same name, the former Slaughterhouse rapper detailed his main complaint about the Detroit artist.

“Respectfully, Big Sean, if you’re watching, this is my issue with you. The ambiguity that accompanies his disses, I don’t aim to offend,” he remarked. “As fans, we hear Big Sean lyrically disparage people and start speculating.”

And after that, he corrects every assumption we make. However, he never tells us who he is criticizing. Our guesses seem to be correct, not that he has to.”

Then, Budden gave an example of a situation in which there seemed to be a problem between Sean and Kendrick Lamar: “We thought you and Kendrick had a relationship going on for a while, but [Sean] told me over the phone that I was wrong.” On the phone, I reasoned that was the cap. Joe was correct, as it turned out later!

Big Sean recently made headlines for his purported veiled insults when he seemed to criticize Kanye West during an On the Radar freestyle.

He appeared to be making reference to the derogatory remarks made about him on Drink Champs by his former G.O.O.D. Music boss in 2021, when he was rapping over Aaliyah’s song “If Your Girl Only Knew.”

He rapped, “I had to switch the home team because they committed treason.” “I have better things to do than find someone with whom to beef,” the song goes, “N-ggas looking for engagement like they got their knee bent.”

“Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch / I’ve seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout,” Sean seemed to be jabbing Ye for having an identifiable tattoo with Lil Uzi Vert and Steve Lacy.

The Chicago rap legend’s fan took it upon themselves to wreak retribution by leaking an incomplete version of Sean’s upcoming album, saying Yeezy gave them the order to do so. Kanye has not yet responded to this.

Despite their tumultuous relationship in recent years, the “Bounce Back” rapper later refuted this assertion and stated that his former mentor would never do such a thing.

“It’s garbage, and I know he wouldn’t do that,” Sean stated on Instagram Live. “Whoever did that, please know that it really screwed me over.” N-ggas mentioning that “Ye did that.” I’m certain he wouldn’t do it.

Whatever the case, Big Sean’s album release seems to have been accelerated by the leak, as he publicly revealed the album’s title, Better Me Than You, and its August 9 release date just a day later.
