Jamie Foxx aimed to commemorate his birthday (and likely the launch of his new Netflix comedy special), but he received more than he expected when he was allegedly struck by a glass and wounded badly enough to require stitches.

TMZ reported that Foxx, along with his daughters and ex Kristin Grannis, were at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills on Friday night (December 13) when police were alerted about a fight occurring inside the restaurant.

A representative for Foxx informed the publication about the incident: “Jamie Foxx was celebrating his birthday dinner when a person from a different table threw a glass that struck him in the mouth. He needed stitches and is healing. Law enforcement has been notified, and the issue is now under their authority.

In other news related to Foxx, his newly launched special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was… features the comedian reflecting on his health scare from April 2023 – which he disclosed was a brain bleed resulting in a stroke.

Nonetheless, the internet was filled with speculations that the reason was actually a failed attempt by Diddy – assertions that were boosted by Joe Rogan when he talked about it on his podcast in November.

However, Jamie made it clear that this was not true.

“The internet claimed that Puffy attempted to murder me.” “That’s what the internet declared!” he mentions in the special, which was filmed in October. “I can guess what you’re contemplating – ‘Did he?’” No way, dude. I departed from those parties early. I was gone by 9, bro. Something seems off. “It’s slick in this place.”

He adds several more jokes about Diddy during the special too.

While reflecting on his life-threatening health scare, he stated: “I gazed into the tunnel’s end, and I believed I saw the devil saying, ‘Come on.’” Or could that be Puffy? “I’m just messing around.”

Later in his performance, he mentions the 1,000 bottles of baby oil confiscated from Diddy’s estate: “If it was Puffy, he had a blazing bottle of Johnson &… I’m just joking.”

After the conclusion of the three-night special taping in October, Gayle King recorded backstage moments in which Jamie Foxx confessed that revisiting the ordeal of his health crisis was challenging.

“It was a painful experience to reopen those wounds each day for three nights,” he remarked. “It was agonizing because it’s the concern that affects you.” We have an excellent audience present, but we’re unsure about what will make them laugh or what won’t. Every comedian will affirm that it’s the concern that matters, the anxiety is the issue.

Typically, when you prepare a stand-up special, you spend about a year and a half honing every detail before recording it. You can’t simply arrive in Atlanta and start recording. It’s a private journey, and I wish to avoid this – I will never experience this again. My upcoming jokes will begin with, ‘Knock, knock!’ “I will perform an hour and thirty minutes of ‘Knock, knock’ jokes.”
