There’s a fantastic teaser for the 2024 BET Awards Usher tribute featuring Jermaine Dupri and Durand Bernarr.

The video, which was released on Thursday, June 20, ahead of the annual concert on June 30, shows Bernarr trying out for Dupri by performing his own rendition of Ursh’s “Good Kisser,” much to JD’s dismay.

“I wonder if those are the lyrics,” a perplexed JD remarks.

At the yearly show, Usher will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

On May 30, BET shared the news on Instagram, writing, “We got a confession.” This year’s #BETAwards LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT HONOREE is U-S-H-E-R!

This icon has provided us with HISTORY moments on our stage. It’s time for us to offer him his flowers at #CulturesBiggestNight in exchange for his kindness.

Previous winners of the honor include Queen Latifah, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, and Mary J. Blige.

At this year’s presentation, the R&B legend is also up for four BET Awards, including Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Album of the Year (Coming Home), and Best Collaboration (“Good Good” with 21 Savage and Summer Walker).

In addition to winning all these awards, it has been disclosed that Usher will be honored with the ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award the following month.

According to a press release, the honor is given to ASCAP members who “have had a major influence on music and culture” and “recognizes their success as creators and changemakers.”

The singer will receive the prize on June 27 at a celebration honoring the best publishers and songwriters of R&B and soul music in Los Angeles.

These accolades cap off what has already been an enormously successful year for Usher, who has released his ninth album, headlined the Super Bowl, and wrapped up a 100-show run in Las Vegas.

With 123.4 million viewers, the Super Bowl halftime performance swiftly surpassed all previous viewership records, according to Billboard.

It even exceeded Dr. Dre’s spectacular 2022 show, which featured appearances by 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg, and Rihanna’s 2023 extravaganza, in which the singer announced her second child was on the way.
