The untimely death of DJ Polo, who is most known for his collaborations with Kool G. Rap, has apparently affected several legendary figures in the Hip Hop community.

The late DJ passed suddenly early on Saturday morning, July 27, according to Hot 97; the cause of death is unknown.

DJ Chuck Chillout was reportedly among the first to publicly mourn Polo. He posted a heartfelt tribute to his friend and colleague on Facebook and Instagram, captioning a picture of the late person with the words, “This Hurt real Bad RIP To DJ POLO.”

Ice T and Eric B were among those who quickly joined in with their own tributes. They wrote: “My brother DJ POLO we had some great times you will never be forgotten GODS speed,” along with a picture of the late DJ.

Several people commented on the EPMD rapper’s post, including Pete Rock, DJ Spinderella, DJ Green Lantern, DJ Scratch, Buckwild of DITC, and E-40. Pete Rock said, “Goddamn man, slow da f%#k down, Jesus christ, lemme breathe.”

Big Daddy Kane, another member of the Juice Crew, also paid respect, writing: “Gone but not forgotten Cuz!!!”

Remarkably, Kool G. Rap has remained silent over the death of his ex-partner.

In 1986, DJ Polo made his debut alongside Kool G. Rap on the song “It’s A Demo,” which prominently displayed his turntablist abilities.

Together, the two would go on to create four albums: Rated XXX in 1996, Wanted: Dead or Alive in 1990, Live and Let Die in 1992, and Road to the Riches in 1989. DJ and producer, establishing the sound signature of the group, during that time.

The pair was acknowledged as essential members of the Juice Crew in addition to their individual discography.

DJ Polo went on to make a solo project named Polo’s Playground after ending his collaboration with Kool G. Rap.

DJ Polo left behind two children.
