As previously noted by many, Steve Sadow highlighted that Gunna’s Alford plea “could not and was not” utilized against Young Thug in his RICO trial.
Gunna’s lawyer in the YSL RICO case is not pleased with individuals speaking negatively about his former client. On Friday (Jan. 3), Steve Sadow utilized Twitter to clarify misunderstandings regarding the “Drip or Drown” rapper’s plea discussions and even drew a comparison to Young Thug’s agreement.
Sadow began his extensive post by emphasizing that he was not representing the Wunna artist: “This detailed post exists purely to present the truth.” He continued by stating, “Gunna was uncooperative and took no action or made any statements that would harm Thug’s case. He was incarcerated for eight months and was let go in December 2022 after accepting an Alford plea.
An Alford plea is a legal arrangement in which a defendant admits that evidence exists that could convict them, all while asserting their innocence. “The attorney clarified that Gunna’s plea was not utilized and he was never mentioned as a witness in Thug’s trial.” “He was given a five-year suspended sentence with no obligation to report, no travel limitations, no residential restrictions, and no probation.”
Sadow subsequently detailed Young Thug’s plea agreement, highlighting that the YSL Records founder “ultimately pled guilty and [no contest] after 30 months in jail, was sentenced to 15 years of probation with reporting requirements, and is prohibited from residing in Atlanta.” The lawyer finished by saying, “Those who criticize Gunna now and in the past should move on. “Nothing more to say.”
Sadow’s tweet was a reaction to a newly emerged Young Thug clip, in which the “Digits” artist asserted he would “never connect with a rat.” The timing of the track’s recording remains uncertain, yet it only intensified the speculation that longtime partners Lil Baby and Lil Durk have undoubtedly influenced over the years.
Luckily, the snitching allegations haven’t hindered Gunna, who has, in numerous ways, eclipsed his contemporaries since returning. 2023’s a Gift & a Curse premiered at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart without any features, while the hit track “fukumean” climbed to No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart. The rapper’s next album, One of Wun, secured a spot even higher at No. 2.
