Three executive decrees have been signed by Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, with the intention of safeguarding public infrastructure, consumers, and the environment.

The first, Executive Order No. 2 of 2024, is concerned with public safety and security, environmental and community protection, and the state of Bauchi prohibiting deforestation. The goal of the order was to stop the area’s expanding illegal tree-felling problem. in the process of signing the executive orders. He stated:

“The protection of the environment and security are crucial, particularly the aspects that are affecting our biodiversity and security. These activities, which include the sale of charcoal, the burning of bush, and the felling of trees, are carried out with great impunity and with the cooperation of local government, forestry officers, and higher levels of leadership. The law will be applied without delay or obstruction and provides for prosecution. The state of Bauchi is required to implement a uniform system of weights and measures, as per Executive Order No. 2 of 2024. The goal of this approach is to shield customers from the spread of merchants’ inconsistent and possibly dishonest business practices.

Governor Mohammed stated: “It is a part of our leadership role.” In our marketplaces, various tactics known as “mudu” are employed, defrauding our people. They cost the same and come in various sizes. He emphasized that a single, workable measure will be presented, issued to all local government units, towns, and villages, and that anyone discovered using the previous measure—which is undervaluing the populace—would face legal action.

The issuing of permits for the construction of unauthorized constructions along state highway corridors, green spaces, rights-of-way, utility areas, or setbacks is prohibited under Bauchi State Executive Order No. 3 of 2024. There are security and environmental ramifications to the unchecked encroachment of our transportation corridors. Based on our security condition, some of those shantytowns are inhabited by terrorists, bandits, and other criminals.

He assured the traders that he would find them other locations. Additionally, the governor promised to pursue any people or companies discovered to have broken the new directives.
