A publicist who previously worked with Rihanna has made comments regarding the turmoil being raised by a recent documentary about JAY-Z.
Trap Lore Ross posted the documentary, titled The Disturbing Death of JAY-Z’s Mistress, to YouTube earlier this month. It revolves around the unexplained death of model Cathy “Kori” White, 28, who passed away in 2011 following a suspected brain aneurysm.
At the time, there were rumors that White was expecting Jay’s kid and that there was more to her murder than first appeared.
The document mentions Jonathan Hay, a publicist who worked with Rihanna when she was first starting out and promoting the song “Pon de Replay.”
Hay has already acknowledged fabricating a tale about Jay and Rihanna having an affair in order to garner more media attention. He noted there was much more to the tale on Instagram after being included in the new document, and he later had a more in-depth conversation about it with AllHipHop.
He clarified that he started spreading the story because he was upset with Hov at the time and tried to get Rih to be included on MTV News but was unable to generate the necessary buzz.
“I became extremely desperate and furious with JAY-Z because he seemed to be more interested in Teairra Marí, and there were rumors that he was chasing a rapper named Lady Sovereign, who he eventually signed months later,” Hay stated. In addition, Amil—who had left the music business and was raising her kids in North Carolina at the time—was the target of persistent criticism from JAY-Z.
Since Jay-Z won’t pay us any attention and is treating Amil, a single mother, disrespectfully, I was like, fuck him. I’m going to draw his attention and repay Jay-Z’s insult since Rihanna was by far the greatest artist on Def Jam.
“I put out the story that JAY-Z was in a love triangle with Rihanna and Beyoncé—and that caught fire, sparked conversation, increased radio airplay, press coverage, and other forms of attention,” he said, “because I thought JAY-Z was a dirtbag.” I was in a mindset of “by any means necessary,” with no regrets.
He claimed that federal officials were reportedly following the Roc Nation entrepreneur “since he stabbed Lance ‘Un’ Rivera and he was also being implicated in a violent incident with R. Kelly during their joint tour,” but he was later halted by them.
“The cops made it clear that they were looking into JAY-Z for allegedly having sex with Rihanna while she was young and bringing her over international lines. He remarked, “They stated there were many others and she wasn’t the only one.
Although he said they didn’t believe him, Hay continued to clarify that it was a rumor he made up. Jay’s team then instructed him “to issue statements about Rihanna and JAY-Z and I was to take full blame, again, also falling on the sword.”
The publicist claims that in exchange for his assistance, he was meant to receive some TIDAL promotion for his other clients, but he never received anything.
