Less than a day before the release of her debut album, Ice Spice finally addressed two major subjects head-on: the tension that had returned between her and Latto and her leaked text messages concerning Nicki Minaj.

In a Thursday, July 25, Rolling Stone interview, the Bronx star attested to the authenticity of the revealed conversation between her and Baby Storme. She doesn’t believe it will significantly impact her friendship with Minaj, though.

She’s as busy as hell, Ice countered. I don’t think she really gives a damn about that kind of stuff, especially from an unknown girl, but what I stated in those texts was simply a frustrated text about contract negotiations. I had the option to use alternative words.

The performer continued, “[Nicki] is still somebody I respect as an artist, and I’m always going to admire everything she’s done for me and the culture, regardless of how I felt in that moment.”

Storme released images in May showing the “Deli” hitmaker referring to Minaj as “ungrateful and delusional.” Ice stated in the chats that the Barbie producers contacted her first, not the Queen rapper, which is how their “Barbie World” collaboration came together.

If they spoke, Ice asserted, there would be “no issue whatsoever” with Latto. “I can understand a friendly competition, but at this point, it seems like she’s just dragging out this joke, and it’s not even funny,” she said in her explanation.

The Grammy nominee also discussed the poop-themed cake that the designer of “Big Energy” had placed online prior to her release of the Sugar Honey Iced Tea. She responded, “It’s kind of a compliment because you’re taking what should be a fun moment and making it about me again.”

When it came to the feud, Ice’s perspective was mostly in line with Latto’s, who stressed in a recent interview with Billboard that “it’s not even that serious.” Notably, the two exchanged subliminals on Sunday Service and Think U The S**t (Fart).
