On Saturday, 200 Nigerian youths who were chosen from all around the nation to increase their potential for economic growth received grants totaling N100 million from the Federal Government.
At an Abuja “Unlock Training” program, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education Abiola Arogundade awarded the grants.
According to Arogundade, 80 people were already in company and required financial assistance to grow, while the remaining 120 were freshmen.
The teenagers were asked to record and submit a minute-long video describing their current abilities, future intentions, and how they expect the government may help them achieve their goals as part of a six-week campaign started by the president.
In addition to solar kiosks, Certificates of Completion were provided to the participants.
After the presentation, Arogundade spoke with reporters and said that the entrepreneurs received training on topics like money management and what makes a solid company strategy.
“We are giving out N500,000 grants each to 120 winners with the best business plans today,” the speaker stated. Additionally, we are presenting honorary awards to eighty individuals who demonstrate exceptional technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial talents but require assistance to advance their firms.
“I’m here to reassure you that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is thinking of you—not just because of this program, but also because of all the other wonderful things he’s doing to support technical and entrepreneurship education across the nation.”
Similar to this, Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, the Minister of Youth Development, declared in May 2024 that the National Youth Service Corps Scheme would be restructured and reformed.
The Minister further said that a team to lead the evaluation, restructuring, and reformation would soon be established, and that over 5,000 corps members would have around N10 million invested in their entrepreneurial endeavors.
