Adegboyega Oyetola, a former governor of Osun State, was chosen to lead the All Progressives Congress in the state. Prof. Razaq Abubakre, an Osun State elder statesman and former vice chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, has referred to this as “putting a square peg in a square hole.”

The former Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Mr. Abubakre, recalled in a statement released in Abuja that the Prof. Adewoye Committee on realigning the APC in Osun State overwhelmingly approved Oyetola’s selection.

As far as he knew, no known legal member of the party had disputed the adoption, which took place during a party meeting at the Tinubu – Shettima House in Osogbo.

All APC stakeholders in Osun State, according to Mr. Abubakre, have confirmed Oyetola’s leadership by this gesture.

He declared, “Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola’s leadership was unanimously confirmed by the party’s leadership and membership, which is a testament to their faith in his unwavering support for the party’s reconstruction.” With God’s blessing, Oyetola will be able to guide the party to a wonderful harbor thanks to his humility, patience, straight-forward demeanor, and kindness. It is interesting to see the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, for his excellent demonstration of support for the party’s wishes about the choice of leader.

In order to keep the APC strong and cohesive, Mr. Abubakre invited important party supporters, such as a different former state governor, to join the party and work with its members.

Additionally, he made a plea to Chief Adebisi Akande, the party’s foundation chairman, to act as the principal mediator between President Ahmed Tinubu and Oyetola and the disgruntled parties.

“As for the party, there can only be more instances of big fish defecting from the state’s ruling PDP party and Senator Mudashiru Hussein returning to the mainstream of the party,” Mr. Abubakre stated.

He urged the Osun APC’s local government chairmen, state executives, and Egbe Agba Osun, or the Elders of Osun, headed by Sola Akinwumi, to show greater commitment.

Mr. Abubakre claims that for Osun APC members and supporters, now is the moment to put in more effort for the party is now.

“The party’s unwavering state chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, and leader, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, are both equally up to the task,” he declared. May God grant the party the ability to win more polls than in the past.
