The government of President Bola Tinubu and the organizer of the scheduled protest, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), have been urged to have an immediate, serious conversation before the situation worsens or becomes unmanageable.

The advise was provided by JNI secretary general Khalid Aliyu, who stated in a statement on Friday that while Nigerians are going through unheard-of problems, protest may not be the answer.

“With a strong feeling of duty, the JNI, led by Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, pleads to the protest organizer and their overt and covert backers.

In addition, it is imperative that the federal government of Nigeria and other crucial players have an urgent conversation in a realistic and critical manner before the situation worsens or becomes unmanageable.

The JNI statement stated, “Nigerians are undoubtedly facing difficult challenges, but protest might not be the answer.”

The world is full of lurid stories about how protests in places like Libya, Syria, Iraq, the United States (Capitol Hill), Ukraine, Tunisia, Sudan, and Russia, among others, did not produce the desired outcomes and instead left the majority of these nations partially or completely destroyed.

The JNI statement continued, “A cursory look at the happenings in Kenya offers some indications of what can engulf our beloved nation Nigeria, which is fighting to survive the numerous difficulties that dot the country’s terrain.

Undoubtedly, demonstrations in Nigeria could taint our attempts to deal with these issues. Whatever the case, we ought to take note of the negative demonstration experiences from other regions and steer clear of the booby traps they fell victim to.

The sultan, according to the Islamic organization, urged all Nigerians to reflect and be truthful about the situation, stating that the stated dissatisfaction and disillusionment are genuine and required Mr. Tinubu’s administration to address them head-on.

The JNI is therefore forced to issue this urgent call to action and earnest request to all parties involved. Food security and home security are identical, as we have often stated in our prior press releases,” JNI noted.

It exhorted Mr. Tinubu’s administration to work even harder to safeguard the nation so that people might return to their homes.

According to the religious organization, the government ought to support industrialization, supply farming supplies at a reduced cost, and establish self-sufficient agro-business ventures within each of the six geographical zones.

It further stated that the government ought to improve elementary, technical, and vocational education in particular.
