Mr. el-Rufai urged the president to refrain from politics of exclusion and urged Mr. Tinubu to quit being haughty in response to a view expressed by Nigerian-American author Farooq Kperogi, who claimed that Mr. Tinubu was plotting to replace the head of NNPCL with yet another Yoruba man.

“A right is not created by two wrongs. The former governor blasted Mr. Tinubu for filling important federal positions with his Yoruba relatives in a post on X on Saturday, saying, “Sensible inclusion always trumps arrogant exclusion.”

In a Sunday post on X, Mr. Sani blasted his northern colleague, accusing Mr. el-Rufai of keeping quiet over the nepotistic appointments made by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr. Sani stated, “Some people have found their voice to speak out when the equation doesn’t favor them. They were silent when Buhari was running for political office with his kinsmen.”

The former lawmaker further claimed that Southern Kaduna was marginalized by Mr. El-Rufai’s administration, adding that during his two terms in office, the former governor made life intolerable for a large number of people.

“We shouldn’t bring up the nepotism that caused Southern Kaduna to be marginalized for eight years. For eight years, Kaduna was an apartheid state, Mr. Sani said.

The administration of Mr. el-Rufai came under fire for encouraging inequity and discord.

His discrimination against Christians in Kaduna was one of the issues that surrounded his government. El-Rufai acknowledged in a widely shared video from the previous year that he did not assign Christians to important posts in his administration because they did not support him.
