SZA was the featured act for 2024’s BST Hyde Park on Saturday, June 29. The TDE singer gave fans a sneak peek at her future track and some big news during her performance.
In video that has been made public, she poses the question, “New album, you ready?” to the audience before teasing a sneak peek at an unheard tune called “Storytime.” The official teaser was soon released by the artist on her social media platforms. SZA sung, “Heck, here’s some for you, yeah. I know you told stories about me. Most of them awful, all of them true.”
Viewers could get a closer look at the artist’s alien-like grasshopper look, which was created by FX makeup artists Sasha Glasser and Malina Stearns, in the following footage. Notably, the latter MUA worked on Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” blue demon outfit.
The album’s title, LANA, has been highly anticipated by fans despite SZA’s lack of confirmation. The album was hinted to as a more elaborate version of her smash hit song SOS. During her unexpected appearance at Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York, she first revealed the project and revealed that it would consist of seven to ten tracks.
“It was supposed to be [SOS] demos and a few new tracks, but it’s grown beyond my expectations,” the “Love Galore” singer said in a Variety cover story. “It was going to be really soft because I was happy to say some st that didn’t mean a fking thing, and I just wanted to glide and not think [too much] and get out of my own head.”
SZA said in March 2024 that she would be rewriting the album after multiple unapproved tracks appeared online. We will therefore simplify this. You guys leaked three of the deluxe album’s songs. You guys may now keep the leaks and throwaways,” she stated on Twitter. “Ask me about it no more. I’m grateful.
