Drake has been informed by Kendrick Lamar that he wants 2Pac’s ring returned for the West Coast.
K.Dot made the request on Wednesday night, June 19, during his electrifying “Pop Out” show in Los Angeles. He was singing his diss tune, “Euphoria.”
Rapping, Kendrick altered the song’s lyrics to say, “Give me back 2Pac’s ring and I might give you a little respect.”
He sang, “Someone had told me that you got a ring, on God, I’m ready to double the wage/ I’d rather do that than let a Canadian n-gga make ‘Pac turn in his grave,” on the song’s original version.
Kendrick Lamar is talking about the ring that Drake purchased for more than $1 million at an auction last year, which belonged to 2Pac before he passed away.
The ring, which is set with diamonds, rubies, and gold, bears the inscription “Pac & Dada 1996,” which alludes to the late rapper’s engagement to Kidada Jones.
A few days before he was tragically assassinated at the age of 25 in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, 2Pac famously wore the ring during his final public appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards in the United States.
Drake eventually disclosed that he was the successful bidder, even though the winning bidder’s name was first kept a secret. As a result, the ring ended up becoming the most valuable Hip Hop relic ever to be sold at auction.
The Her Loss hitmaker shared a close-up picture of himself wearing the regal ring on his Instagram Stories.
Throughout the incredible performance on Wednesday, Kendrick Lamar made more than one jab at Drake.
In addition to repeatedly singing his diss tune “Not Like Us” and introducing himself alongside Dr. Dre, he declared, “Y’all aint gonna let anyone disrespect the West Coast or mock our legends,” alluding to the artificial intelligence version of his voice that was used for “Taylor Made Freestyle.”
In spite of Kendrick Lamar’s insistence, Drake has already spoken out about his love for 2Pac.
He had previously purchased from Jason of Beverly Hills a set of matching bespoke chains honoring the late rapper.
One necklace had a pendant of Pac with a diamond crown of thorns and a blue bandana, while the other had a gold crown of thorns and a red bandana.
