While many rappers are having trouble scheduling Canadian shows, 50 Cent appears to have had a simple night on Saturday (July 20).
While videos of frequent Drake collaborator Boi-1da hanging out with the famed rapper and actor first appeared, more videos later emerged showing the “6 God” sitting with 50. Drake even posted a photo of himself and the Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ rapper on his Instagram Story.
This is the first public interaction between the two since Drake released “Push Ups,” his first viral diss track in a slow but ongoing battle with Kendrick Lamar. With a DJ Whoo Kid drop at the opening, the Canadian superstar unleashed his inner Curtis Jackson for the stinging track.
He even mentioned the Power Universe inventor in the song. “Ngas really got me out here talkin’ like I’m 50, ayy / Ngas really got me out here rappin’ what I’m livin’ / I might take your latest girl and cuff her like I’m Ricky / Can’t believe he jumpin’ in, this nigga turnin’ fifty,” the rapper sings throughout the verse.
Interestingly, this jab at Rick Ross came before the memorable scuffle during the Miami rapper’s live event in Vancouver on June 30, when Ross’ DJ was daring enough to play “Not Like Us” as he went off stage. Shortly after, Ross and his team were challenged by several people and were eventually punched as they dispersed. Following the altercation, Drake liked a social media post about the incident.
ScHoolboy Q has also raised concerns about recent show cancellations in Canada. He was scheduled to perform in Toronto on Thursday (18 July). “They just canceled my show in Toronto,” the TDE rapper tweeted, voicing his fury.
He went on to explain how it appeared unjustified, given that PARTYNEXTDOOR was permitted to play in Los Angeles, while Top Dawg was only with Lil Wayne and Birdman at YouTube’s Cash Money Records event during BET Awards Week.
While Drake has yet to comment officially on the situation, followers on social media immediately discovered that the “God’s Plan” rapper has financial links with the venue, which resulted in the show’s cancellation.
