Fans of Donald Glover are in for a bittersweet Friday, July 19. At that point, Bando Stone & the New World, the rapper and actor’s last album under the Childish Gambino alias, will be available on streaming services.
Glover revealed the full tracklist on Wednesday night, July 17, ahead of its official release. Chlöe Bailey, Jorja Smith, Flo Milli, Legend, Yeat, Fousheé, Khruangbin, and Amaarae—who each contributed to an astounding three songs—will be included on the 17-track album. The prior releases “Lithonia” and “In the Night” are also included in the project.
Sadly, two of the widely anticipated features for the LP were left off of the final version. Glover debuted two songs in April that featured guest verses from Ye and Kid Cudi, respectively. The Chicago-born musician made allusions to Rubi Rose, Don Lemon, and a potential Watch the Throne sequel on a song tentatively titled “Say Less.”
Glover’s “The New World Tour” will begin in Oklahoma City on August 11. Afterwards, he’ll stop in big cities including Nashville, Atlanta, Detroit, Toronto, Brooklyn, Portland, and Atlanta before wrapping up the North American tour on October 3 in Chicago.
The “Redbone” hitmaker is then anticipated to go to Europe and Australia, stopping in cities like Berlin, Paris, London, and Melbourne. On a few concerts, he will be supported by WILLOW and Amaarae.
Two months after Atavista, Glover’s fourth studio album, a remake of it, comes Bando Stone & the New World. Young Nudy, Summer Walker, 21 Savage, Ariana Grande, and other artists were added to the upgraded version; the latter two were also included in the 3.15.20 original body of work.
“I didn’t mix it or master it. I just sort of made it public. Glover said of his first thoughts upon releasing the 2020 project, “I was going through a lot; n**gas thought everybody was going to die because it was the pandemic,” according to REVOLT.
