Prior to the release of his upcoming studio album, Better Me Than You, on August 9, Big Sean is clearing the air. On Friday, August 2, the Detroit prodigy had a one-on-one interview with Charlamagne Tha God.

Sean and Ye talked about settling money issues and avoiding a possible rap feud between Kendrick Lamar and Ye, the “big three.” More precisely, the performer revealed specifics of a conversation he had with the Pulitzer Prize winner after an early draft of “ELEMENT” appeared online.

On the way to J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival, Sean recounted running into Terrence “Punch” Henderson of TDE, and they both agreed there were no unresolved issues between him and Lamar. “the leaked st happened in the same time frame. The verse had been leaked. “Damn, y’all motherfkers said it wasn’t s**t, and it was something,” I think to myself. So you’re making me look nuts,” Sean said.

“He changed that bar when that song came out, right?” He continued, making reference to the wider jokes in the DAMN final edit that were leaked. “I was furious when I heard it, so I had to remember that.”

In a way, he expressed regret for going to that extent and letting that stuff slip out, the rapper subsequently disclosed. I wasn’t acting slovenly or tucking my tail. I would be right in the middle of it if it was actual smoke. He said, “I would be ready, but I’m not.”

Lamar swore on the leaked version of “ELEMENT,” saying, “It’s not my responsibility to make them appreciate you, honey; you’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme. Big Sean keep sneak dissin’, I’ll let it slide. I suppose his fake confidence got him motivated. Before you come at us, cute a** raps, get your puberty up and make a fantastic record.

Fortunately, the Detroit 2 artist’s “Deep Reverence” helped Sean and Lamar work out their differences.
