At the end of the Party’s convention in Milwaukee on Thursday, former US President Donald Trump received the Republican Party’s presidential candidacy. This occurred in the midst of the Democrats’ continuous campaign to get Joe Biden to drop out of the race.

During an elongated acceptance speech that lasted more than ninety minutes, Mr. Trump made a commitment to overcome the political differences that characterized his previous administration in an effort to present an image of national unity.

Mr. Trump said, “I am here tonight to lay out a vision for the whole nation.” “I extend a hand of loyalty and friendship to every citizen, young or old, man or woman, Democrat, Republican, or independent, Black or White, Asian or Hispanic.”

This was Mr. Trump’s first speech on Thursday since he had escaped an attempted murder the Saturday before in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Speaking on the incident, Mr. Trump remarked, “I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God.” He also paid tribute to Corey Comperatore, a rallygoer who died protecting his family from the attack.

But, in response to Joe Biden’s dismal showing in the presidential debates earlier this year, the Democrats are making a last-ditch effort to get him to withdraw in favor of a stronger contender.

Further questions about Mr. Biden’s mental capacity have been raised by his confusion of Vice President Kamala Harris with Mr. Trump and his mistaken identification of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for Russian leader Vladimir Putin during a NATO conference.

Mr. Biden remains unwavering in his resolve to carry on with his campaign in spite of the pressure.

The 81-year-old president has been placed under isolation since Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.

The New York Times reported that a number of Mr. Biden’s acquaintances thought he had started to come to terms with the possibility that he might not be able to win in November and might have to withdraw from the race.
