Cordae is revealing his perspective on why the YBN group fell apart years ago – however, he remains on good terms with both Nahmir and Almighty Jay even now.

The YBN group began in 2014 with only Nahmir and Jay on XBOX Live, and Cordae joined them a few years afterward. Following their rise to fame and the release of their only project YBN: The Mixtape in 2018, the group would eventually break up for good just a few years afterward.

In a recent vlog with YouTuber Peaks100, Cordae attributed the split to poor business decisions and a single argument that they weren’t able to recover from.

“Mention a group that remained united,” he began. “I’m saying, man, we’ve never made a track with the three of us.” The commercial aspect of it was really quite messed up, to be honest. People had a major dispute in Europe. Individuals express certain remarks they can’t retract—it’s still affection, but it’s just some things that are simply unbearable.

“Nahmir is still my friend.” Jay, I still mess with bruh. Nahmir passed the ball for a perfect alley-oop, and I appreciate it a lot.

The conversation starts approximately at the 3:30 point below.

In relation to Cordae’s observation regarding the poor business practices, Almighty Jay had previously addressed this in an Instagram post from 2021, criticizing the group’s ex-manager, James McMillan.

“This dude James McMillan is a scammer,” he wrote. “He signs guys to shady contracts and screws them over.” No one understands the struggles we face every day being attached to this guy because we shield him from scrutiny. “I’ve had enough of this nonsense.”

Both Nahmir and Cordae liked the post, appearing to endorse his statement.

He subsequently provided additional context in his Instagram Story, stating: “Registering the YBN name without n-ggas knowing. He assigned me a lawyer he used to date without informing me. SMH. Exploited a few kids, man. “If you all truly want to understand why YBN split up.”

McMillan did not reply to the allegations.
