“He’s an adult, just as I’m an adult,” the singer remarked when asked about her relationship with the ‘African Giant’ musician.
Chlöe treats her personal life with seriousness, and it’s easy to see why. On Wednesday (Jan. 8), the “Surprise” artist appeared with Scott Mills and Derrick Johnson on “The Breakfast Club” to discuss the upcoming NAACP Image Awards. Nevertheless, the conversation took a somewhat uncomfortable direction when she was questioned about her alleged relationship with Burna Boy.
Around the midpoint of the interview, guest host Loren LoRosa inquired whether Chlöe would be accompanied by a date to the ceremony, scheduled to air on Feb. 22 on BET and CBS. The vocalist replied, “My godmother and my manager,” then she was asked if Burna Boy would attend. “You need to inquire with him,” she responded.
“You’re present, he’s absent,” LoRosa retorted before displaying footage of the two creators together in Nigeria in December 2024. Chlöe, attempting to redirect the discussion, remarked, “Nigeria was incredibly beautiful. I experienced the greatest enjoyment. I enjoyed some great food. I consumed pepper soup. I consumed a lot of spicy chicken. Very impressive.
Regrettably, the diversion was brief, as Charlamagne Tha God clearly became frustrated with the evasive nature of the conversation. “We’re curious, is that your sweetheart?” LoRosa inquired directly, and Chlöe responded politely, “I’m an adult.” “I really enjoyed my time in Nigeria.” She remarked, “He’s an adult man, just as I’m an adult woman.”
Shortly after, Chlöe recognized that, similar to numerous women in the music industry, her fame inevitably arouses interest in her romantic relationships. “To be honest, I have no objections.” I don’t want to admit this, but it’s my existence. “It’s what I agreed to,” she stated, then continued, “I believe it should never be annoyance directed at those who ask me.”
Regarding the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, the artist’s “Boy Bye” is competing for Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album. On Tuesday (Jan. 7), she and Johnson revealed the nominations on “CBS Mornings.”
