“Shaped by Sound,” a one-day music showcase, is the way Spotify and Max, formerly HBO Max, will commemorate Black Music Month. The announcement was made on Monday, June 17. Cash Cobain is set to DJ and perform at the upcoming event, which is scheduled on June 22 at NYC’s Hall des Lumières.
“We’re excited for guests to experience this one-of-a-kind immersive journey for the senses, through projection mapping and transcending sound, to highlight the profound influence of Black music on our culture and innovation,” said Jackie Gagne, vice president of multicultural marketing at Max. We hope you can come along for what promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime event that connects Spotify’s and Max’s dynamic music libraries and programming in profoundly meaningful ways.
The head of Spotify’s artist relationships, Kimmy Summers, stated, “We are thrilled to be [a] partner with Max because Frequency is our content brand dedicated to celebrating and expanding the visibility of Black artists.” “We always want to work with companies that recognize the variety, importance, and influence of Black talent. “Shaped by Sound” will provide listeners with the chance to comprehend and recognize the influence that Black music has had on society as a whole.
Over the past few years, Cobain has become more and more intense. In the past, he produced PinkPantheress’s “Nice to meet you,” B-Lovee’s TikTok viral hit “My Everything,” and Drake’s “Calling For You” from For All The Dogs.
Lyrically, the native of New York achieved breakthrough success with “Fisherrr,” which Ice Spice remixed in April. Later, Cobain released “Rump Punch” and collaborated with J. Cole on “Grippy.” Additionally, he was featured in the June 14 release of Don Toliver’s HARDSTONE PSYCHO song “ATTITUDE.”
Black Music Month celebrates and commemorates the noteworthy contributions made by musicians to the field. NPR declared in May that it would celebrate the date with their “Tiny Desk” series including celebrities like Tems, Tierra Whack, and Flo Milli.
