The veteran music industry executive thinks that JAY-Z’s release of “Death of Auto-Tune” negatively impacted T-Pain’s career.
Bu Thiam and 4Batz recently joined Gillie and Wallo for an episode of the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game Podcast.” The music executive and sibling of famous singer Akon shared his opinions on JAY-Z’s song “Death of Auto-Tune” from 2009.
At the time the song came out, T-Pain was at the forefront of the music scene, and his integration of auto-tune had a significant impact on the entire music business. Prominent musicians such as Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Future, and many more utilized the setting to modify their vocals and create some of their most successful songs. In a video, Thiam expressed, “One of the most popular singers released a song titled ‘Death of Auto-Tune’ which greatly affected him.” It damaged his career to a certain extent. Looking back 10 years later, you can see the impact he has had on music and the creations he has made. T-Pain still doesn’t receive the recognition he deserves.
He kept on insisting that we need to cease attempting to determine the nature of this thing. We must allow it time to develop and flourish. During the interview, he hinted that JAY-Z may owe T-Pain an apology for casting a negative light on his style, despite the fact that the “Empire State of Mind” rapper had shown the Florida singer-songwriter support before; he simply didn’t like others imitating his style.
One user said, “JAY-Z was discussing rappers, not T-Pain who is a singer. If he couldn’t understand the subtle message, it’s his own fault.” Another person commented, “It is concerning to see people repeatedly calling out this man’s name even though they know he will be ignoring them!” When will people finally acknowledge that he is indifferent? The man hardly uses social media!
Currently, T-Pain remains one of the most famous and easily recognizable figures in popular culture. T-Pain’s distinct sound remains strong even 15 years after The Blueprint 3 single, whether through his popular live-stream or collaborations with artists like GloRilla and EARTHGANG.
Thiam, currently collaborating with well-known artists such as Ian and 4Batz, honed his skills in the music industry at a young age as an A&R representative, discovering talents like T-Pain, Lady Gaga, Jeremih, and others. He has occupied high-ranking roles at different record labels such as Def Jam Recordings and Columbia Records. He notably worked under L.A. Reid and was closely associated with West’s career-defining album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
