Ye and Big Sean don’t appear to be in as “GOOD” of a place as they once were. Over the past few years, the frequent collaborators have experienced public ups and downs.
Fans took to social media after his impressive “On The Radar” freestyle to analyze his lyrics and determine who he might have been referring to in some of the bars. The Detroit rapper remarked, rather cryptically, “I got better things to do than find someone to beef with,” sparking a flurry of speculative discussion among fans as to whether this was a jab at his former rival in hip-hop who is now a friend, Kendrick Lamar.
Soon after the video was released, though, DJ Hed provided an important clarification: “I spoke with Sean. The remark was, ‘I have better things to do than find someone to beef with.’ And it wasn’t for Dot. The bar was directed at a different Gemini.'” The well-known DJ and West Coast media personality then tweeted, diverting attention from fans to Ye, who not only fits the astrological description but also has a lingering grudge with his former pupil Sean.
Ye’s fan base appears to have taken matters into their own hands, leaking an incomplete version of what was supposed to be Big Sean’s upcoming album Better Me Than You. Ye is always there for him whenever he is addressed. “This is the album because he wants to disrespect you so much,” In a Reddit post, purported leaker bigseandon811 said, “F**k him and his whole team.”
Sean, nevertheless, isn’t persuaded that the leak of his upcoming album—which would be his first since the 2020 release of Detroit 2—was caused directly by his former mentor. I’ve been there ever since I graduated. I could learn, study, and make a contribution. Sean responded on Instagram live video, saying, “I know he wouldn’t do no s**t like that because that’s trash.”
“This plaque right here, do you see it? Under GOOD Music, 185 million records have been sold. I adore quality music. The rapper said, “S**t, he made more money off my music than I did,” making reference to his remarks during the “Drink Champs” interview, in which he stated that he was owed over six million dollars by the musician who went by Kanye West.
The award-winning emcee released a new song on Friday, July 19, called “YES,” off his upcoming album Better Me Than You.
