The pop star was amazed at “how much [of] a natural” her oldest daughter was: “That’s my baby.”
Blue Ivy Carter aspires for her depiction of Kiara in Mufasa: The Lion King to connect with Black and brown women globally. After her and Beyoncé’s appearance at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, “Good Morning America” showcased a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the mother-daughter pair recording their lines on Tuesday (Dec. 10).
“Don’t look at me like that,” Blue Ivy remarked, to which the “BREAK MY SOUL” singer replied, “It’s hard not to.” “You’re simply stunning, girl.” The video, recorded in March 2023, displayed the two collaborating in the studio. At one moment, Beyoncé even wipes her tears away: “Just a moment, please.” I can’t believe that’s my child. “That’s truly wonderful.”
“Observing Blue as Kiara and listening to her voice coming from that character… it was quite difficult to concentrate and perform my duties afterwards,” the mother of three recalled about the experience. “Therefore, I said, ‘Wait a moment, everyone.” “Please give me a moment.” “I need to process that.”
At another point in the discussion, Blue Ivy mentioned, “It’s truly an incredible experience, and I think everyone involved in this is very helpful and supportive. The director, Barry [Jenkins], is very kind, and he shares with me suggestions for improvement. He’s extremely encouraging toward me and expresses it in the kindest manner.
“This is an amazing experience for me,” she confidently said before adding, “I’m genuinely thrilled for [the] girls who resemble me globally [to] have the opportunity to watch this film and see and hear themselves in it.”
Later in the video, Beyoncé noted that she was amazed at “how much [of] a natural [Blue Ivy] is,” which is truly hard to accept, given her daughter’s captivating performances during the “RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR.” Mufasa: The Lion King is set to premiere in theaters on December 20.
