Beyoncé announced her entry into the spirits sector with SirDavis on Tuesday, August 20. The pop queen revealed the news on Instagram by posting a photo of herself with a glass of the recently released whisky, which honors her great-grandfather Davis Hogue.
Fans saw the bottle for the first time in a different slide that had a symbol of a golden horse. “Davis in my bones” is a line from the COWBOY CARTER song “BODYGUARD,” which she used as the caption for the photo. The product is currently $89.99 for a 750ml bottle when it is pre-ordered at the time of reporting.
Working with Moët Hennessy and Bill Lumsden, SirDavis ages rye and malted barley in Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels to create a smooth and flavorful blend. According to the brand’s website, the whisky combines “spice with sublime hints of fruit.” Apparently, this isn’t just lip service, since SirDavis has already won several accolades in 2023.
“I’ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,” Beyoncé stated in a news release. “Learning that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man made me feel as though my love of whisky was predestined. By creating SirDavis, I can honor him and bring us together via a fresh, common heritage.
“In collaboration with Moët Hennessy, we have created a delectable American whisky that honors history while also encouraging consumers to try something fresh and distinctive in the market,” she went on. Welcome, Sir Davis. You can taste it better than I could ever describe.
“SirDavis is not only a revelatory and exceptional American Whisky, which we are very proud of,” continued LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault. It also demonstrates LVMH and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s shared steadfast commitment to craftsmanship, legacy, and innovation.
The introduction of SirDavis came after Beyoncé’s previous forays into hair care through CÉCRED. Eight products were available when the range debuted, including a treatment mask, sealing lotion, and scalp scrub.
