Even though Gunna was a contender for two awards at this year’s BET Awards, an incident on the red carpet made his participation at the event unpleasant.
At Sunday’s (June 30) awards presentation, a man recorded himself approaching the Atlanta rapper and questioning him over the claims that he turned on Young Thug in the ongoing YSL RICO case.
The guy approached Gunna, who was there with two female employees, and said, “Gunna Man, wunna. You are not allowed to be doing all that ratting sh*t in the city. You n-gga rat ass.
Then, as one of his female companions approached the “Fukumean” hitmaker, the man stepped away from him. Gunna himself said nothing, only staring at him.
The video was posted by K Rich, a person who gained notoriety earlier for a conversation with Jay-Z regarding the ongoing “dinner with JAY-Z or $500K?” controversy.
At a Los Angeles Chargers vs. Dallas Cowboys game last year, Rich made a lighthearted remark to Hov, “I ain’t taking that dinner, I’m taking that $500,000,” after bumping into the Roc Nation entrepreneur.
In response, Jay gave the man a fist bump and told him to “be good.”
Gunna has already faced charges of snitching in public after accepting a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, which continues to include Young Thug’s trial.
When Lil Baby, his former friend and partner, started playing their popular song “Drip Too Hard” at a concert last December, he took a jab at him.
“Fuck the rats, turn this shit off,” Baby was heard yelling in a fan-captured video.
Gunna has previously been the target of rat teasing, such as when his bodyguard investigated a man in a mall for allegedly calling the rapper a snitch.
Gunna has adamantly denied using his plea agreement to spy on Thug.
After being released from custody, he released a statement saying, “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.
“He recently rapped, “I set the trend, I’m a trendsetter/ I’m not a rat, still gettin’ cheddar,” on the song “Prada Dem.”
