Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, gave the heads of local government administration instructions to take over their councils immediately on Tuesday.

The decision was issued by the governor on June 17, the day the terms of the 23 local government chairmen expired.

In a broadcast to the entire state, Mr. Fubara issued the order from Government House in Port Harcourt.

He thanked the departing elected local government chairmen and council members for their devoted work, which came to an end when their three-year terms were over.

In the name of the state, the governor expressed gratitude to them for their dedication to serving the state.

In addition, Mr. Fubara wished them luck in their future endeavors and congratulated them on finishing their term.

In order to guarantee that the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution is respected and peace and order is maintained, the governor promised to keep leading and guiding the populace.

The head of local government administration was instructed to carry on leading their respective LGAs, he said.

He gave the heads of LGAs instructions to take over the councils right away, full of energy and willingness to serve.

Mr. Fubara advised them to hold off until the state made progress toward more significant achievements.

He gave the people of Rivers the assurance that his administration will carry on delivering solid health care, high-quality education, and unadulterated welfare assistance packages to the populace.
