Off-stage, Megan Thee Stallion has encountered a few unwanted obstacles during her “Hot Girl Summer Tour.” The “Girls in the Hood” rapper was in the news on Saturday, June 8, due to a rumored sex tape that many believed to be artificial intelligence (AI) produced. The Grammy Award-winning musician appeared to confront the deliberate attempt to damage her reputation on Twitter the same day. She wrote, “You guys go out of your way to hurt me when you see me winning. It’s really sick.” “You guys are pushing it too far. Act like an a** s**t. Please understand that this was your last day of playing with me, truly.
The purportedly deepfake video’s origins are still unknown as of the time of reporting. The Houston native’s response, though, strengthened her resolve to resist being broken down by untrue statements and cyberbullying. Shortly after she released the PSA, #WeLoveYouMegan started to trend on social media. “You guys are so strange. Since you were unable to locate any genuine information about Megan Thee Stallion, you attempted to disseminate deepfakes as authentic leaks. Someone on Twitter said, “Like, every day y’all prove more and more that Megan is really that b**ch.” “It’s always protect Black women until it’s Megan,” said a another commenter. It’s really incredibly f**king terrible how much you guys mistreat and disrespect her.
Not to be forgotten is that Megan performed last night in Tampa, Florida, at the Amalie Arena. In videos that have been circulated online, the rapper was seen fighting back tears while she performed “Cobra” before an enthusiastic audience.
On June 28, her third studio album, MEGAN, will be available for streaming. The album will also include hits like “BOA” and “HISS,” the latter of which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, in addition to the previously mentioned record.
