A plaque for “Pump It Up” was given to Joe Budden earlier this week; a year later, the Recording Industry Association of America recognized the song as gold. Yung Miami, who has five RIAA-recognized recordings as part of City Girls, thought it was humorous that the retired rapper was only now getting his first gold plaque, even if it might be a major deal for him.
Upon viewing a video of him opening the decorative tablet, the Floridian responded to the tweet on Thursday, August 22, by emojiing laughter. “I was nine years old.” I’m thirty now,” she said. Although it seemed like Budden was about to respond, he ultimately said, “It would be too easy.”
But it seems the podcaster had second thoughts soon after, since “Maybe [tomorrow]” was written in a subsequent post. Yung Miami tweeted, “Another one bites the dust, remember???” in response to his original comment. You were merely having fun when you believed I had failed. Let’s laugh, I can laugh because you were laughing at me.
The “50/50” singer was alluding to remarks made by Budden on “The Need to Know Podcast” in October 2023. He expressed skepticism on the relaunch of her talk show “Caresha Please” and hinted that its two BET Awards triumphs weren’t justified.
Budden said, “Won’t be getting one of those again,” and proceeded to sing Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust.” He went on, “It’s finished now. [Yung Miami] took home the prize twice in a row. I don’t give a damn about that things anymore, but you never know when the matrix will break.
The first episode of “Caresha Please’s” second season premiered on August 8, as Rap-Up previously reported. Yung Miami talked candidly about remaining silent about Diddy’s litigation and charges, the breakup of City Girls, and Quality Control Music putting her solo projects on hold during her interview with Saucy Santana.
Notably, the “CFWM (Can’t F**k With Me)” singer is anticipated to open September’s REVOLT WORLD in 2024. Pusha T, Key Glock, Mariah the Scientist, Rob49, Offset, Lady London, and 42 Dugg are among the other announced acts.
