It’s unlikely that people would mistake Sexyy Red for a quiet rapper, especially considering the gregarious vibe of her songs. However, the St. Louis superstar acknowledged that she has shyness before taking the stage or meeting other celebs of her caliber in an interview with LeBron James’ “The Shop” on Thursday, July 11.

Sexyy Red was questioned by Maverick Carter about country music star Zach Bryan asking her out at one of his gigs in the middle of the program. Later on, she disclosed, “I’m a shy person, so I [got] nervous when I met new people, and I didn’t know [what] he was going to be like.” I don’t give a damn about what people think of me. “Why [does] he wanna bring me out?” is how I feel about it because it was just something different. Two of us are totally different.

Paul Rivera, a co-host, asked, “Did we hear that [correctly]? Is Sexy Red reticent? In response, she said, “I am.” I’m starting to feel anxious. Just before shows. When I have to socialize, I become bashful.

Another guest on the broadcast, André 3000, gave some guidance and reassured Sexyy Red that she is not alone. The inventor of New Blue Sun reflected on his time with OutKast and Dungeon Family, saying, “Nerves just let you know ‘I’m alive.'” I therefore handle it that way. It simply means allowing your body to “get ready” for what is going to happen.

Sexyy Red has been out with celebrities like Travis Scott, Chief Keef, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and more during her ascent to prominence. The Toronto native even contributed a cameo line to her most recent album, In Sexyy We Trust—”U My Everything” was their second joint effort. Lil Baby, Mike WiLL Made-It, VonOff1700, and more artists were included on the 14-track album.

The “Pound Town” hitmaker will use her “Sexyy Red 4 President Tour” in August to promote her new album.
