After being detained earlier this week for driving while intoxicated, Justin Timberlake has now thanked everyone who has continued to believe in him.

The 43-year-old performed live for the first of two nights in Chicago on Friday, June 21, at the United Center. He showed his affection to everyone present and took a minute during the set to think back on his errors.

He addressed the audience, “We’ve been together through ups and downs, lefts and rights,” to which they responded with a standing ovation as he became obviously upset. “This week has been difficult, but you and I are still here.

“You continue to love me even though I know that I can be difficult to love at times.”

The worldwide celebrity was detained in New York in the middle of June and was charged the following day.

Following his “observation operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel,” the “Cry Me A River” hitmaker was stopped by the Sag Harbor Police Department.

According to Timberlake’s attorney Edward Burke Jr., “the charge was a single count because he refused the breath test.” Timberlake is accused of refusing a breathalyzer. In addition, Mr. Timberlake was given two more court penalties for running a stop sign and failing to stay in the designated lane of traffic.

“[We] look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations,” he subsequently stated. When the time is right, he will say a great deal. The DA’s office is currently holding him up for full discovery.

The following is found in the police report about the incident: “It was determined that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition because he had slowed speech, was unsteady on all standardized field sobriety tests, had bloodshot and glassy eyes, and a strong alcoholic beverage odor emanating from his breath.”

According to JT’s statement in court records, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.”

On July 26, he is set to make his next court appearance. That same day, he will be performing in Poland as part of his Forget Tomorrow Tour.
