This week has witnessed yet another development in the Ulio Foolio murder case: a fourth suspect was captured one day after the first three arrests were made public.
Rashad Murphy, 30, was reportedly brought into custody early on Tuesday, July 30, after engaging in an hours-long confrontation with a SWAT squad, according to Jacksonville’s News 4.
Authorities said that after locating Murphy in his apartment building with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, they “spent hours” trying to reason with him before using “tactics” to eject him.
Like the other four suspects, Murphy is charged with premeditated first-degree murder in addition to having a “No Valid Driver’s License.”
Only Davion Murphy, Rashad’s cousin, is still at large, but authorities say they are gaining ground on him and want the 26-year-old to come forward.
Three other people were arrested earlier this week for the murder: Alicia Andrews, 21, Isaiah Chance Jr., 21, and 18-year-old Sean Gathright. Chance Jr. and Andrews have been identified as the getaway drivers, while Gathright and the Murphys are suspected of being the gunmen.
The rapper’s automobile was shot multiple times by the masked gunmen in the Tampa Holiday Inn parking lot, according to footage of the attack that was also made public.
On June 23, Julio Foolio was celebrating his 26th birthday when he was shot and died outside of the hotel.
According to Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw, the suspects were identified during their investigation as members of the rival gang ATK, which is said to have connections to Yungeen Ace, a longtime foe of Foolio.
Ace initially discussed the murder and the details of his most recent chat with Foolio earlier this week.
Ace has denied being involved in the murder, despite accusations that he placed a $10,000 bounty on his opponent.
An unidentified man claiming to be the murderer claimed in an internet video released earlier this month that Ace gave the order to execute the hit.
The rapper’s potential connection to the murder is not now the subject of an ongoing inquiry, according to the police.
Following the shooting death of Julio Foolio’s cousin in 2017, Yungeen Ace and Julio Foolio, together with their respective factions KTA and ATK, began a years-long feud. Ace was eventually the target of a retaliatory attack.
