The governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has reflected on the events that led to his election and said that his predecessor opposed it.

The governor claimed that the individual in charge at the time preferred to support a candidate from a different party, albeit he did not name that individual specifically.

Looking back on his five years in government, Abiodun said the journey of his administration was difficult. claiming that his victory was the result of his faith in God.

The governor gave a speech on Sunday at the Ogun State Government House Chapel in Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta, during his 64th birthday and fifth year Thanksgiving Service.

“My predecessor, who shared the same party as me, was fighting me and running a campaign for a different candidate in a different party during the very unusual process that I went through to become governor. I will sit down and ask myself, ‘Baba God, this is very unusual, why do I have to go through so much to assume this office?'” He responded, “And then I’ll tell myself that it’s because God wants to take that glory.”

“I consider the past five years of leading the state of Ogun to be among the most exquisite moments of my life. It’s been incredibly difficult, extraordinarily volatile, and especially acrimonious. The most crucial aspect, though, is that God has granted us victory in all of this.

Governor Abiodun declared that his administration was making significant progress in restructuring the state’s economy.

He said that one such measure is the intention to turn Ogun into an oil-producing state since the Ministry of Petroleum Resources would shortly start conducting oil exploration there.

“Only on Friday, the chairman of Shell and three other members of the Ministry of Petroleum leadership, led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, were here to announce that they would soon begin to drill oil in Ogun State,” the speaker stated.

Prince Abiodun also took advantage of the chance to address remarks made regarding the Sagamu-Iperu road project by Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor in the most recent general election.

Adebutu had voiced criticism of the state government’s 8-kilometer Sagamu-Iperu road project.

The governor stated that his main goal was to keep the Gateway State moving in the right direction rather than to obsess about the submission of a guy who was blind to the more than 600 kilometers of roads his administration had built throughout Ogun State.

Prince Abiodun claimed to have discovered that it is best to ignore those who have taken to barking anytime they are not in the spotlight.

He continued, stating he had learned not to reply to such naive comments. “I read on one of the papers that someone was saying that he was embarrassed that I was commissioning an 8-kilometer road, and a counterpart of mine was commissioning a 77-kilometer road,” he remarked.

He questioned why, in spite of the Adebutu family’s enormous wealth, the road that passes through their home has been in terrible condition for a long time and why they haven’t been able to use even a little portion of their fortune to fix it.

Governor Abiodun pledged that his administration will keep enhancing the quality of life for the state’s citizens by building additional infrastructure, which would enhance their general well-being.
