Ab-Soul has reacted to the mention he got from Kendrick Lamar on “The Heart Pt. 6.”

On the GNX beat, which features SWV’s “Use Your Heart,” Kendrick delivered: “Ab-Soul in the corner spitting bars, juggling packs of Black & Milds / Breaking down kush ’til he smiled wide / His verses iconic, hoping I could flow like him / Analyzed his approach to shape my writing.”

During an Instagram Live session over the weekend, Kendrick’s Black Hippy brother expressed his gratitude and lauded the Compton native for imparting valuable lessons as an artist.

He stated: “I’m truly honored; he’s my brother in real life.” I would take a bullet for my cousin. Other than that, I assure you he didn’t analyze me as thoroughly as I analyzed him.

“He educated me the most as a professional music artist.” I simply want to emphasize that clearly. We truly slept on the ground for this stuff, every one of us. Dot, [Jay] Rock, [ScHoolboy] Q, Sounwave.”

Soulo also proclaimed: “I am the B.O.A.T. I am the top rapper.” Inquire of anyone. I express this with humility; it is not meant to be arrogant. “I genuinely carry this out.”

“The Heart Part.” 6” also had Kendrick Lamar explain why a complete Black Hippy album was never launched.

In the final verse, he recognized that the group never released a complete project due to his preoccupation with other pursuits.

“I refresh my memory, realizing Black Hippy faltered due to my influence / Artistically, I progressed with fresh ideas available / Hey, recall all those times we planned our moves / To hit up the streets, then return and lay down three tracks?” he articulated.

In April, ScHoolboy Q joined an episode of The Danny Brown Show and was inquired about the possibility of reuniting with his fellow Black Hippy members.

“I’m not creating any Black Hippy stuff,” he replied. “Absolutely not. I would never engage in that nonsense.”

When Danny Brown pushed, questioning whether he would be willing to do it “for the culture,” Q retorted: “Forget the culture.” There is no culture. What does culture entail? What does rap culture mean? What is the damn rap scene?

In a more serious tone, he added: “I believe we’re all somewhat on individual journeys at this moment. Dot is pursuing his own path with pgLang. I’m focusing on my own projects, showcasing a new artist. I’ve already completed that section, I need to finish this second part since I still have about 18 more albums to produce.

“It’s like I’m trying to understand this stage before moving on to the third stage.” And Ab-Soul is putting in effort, Jay Rock is putting in effort. “I simply cannot understand when we’ll find the time to do that.”
