50 Cent has reacted to actor and comedian DeRay Davis suggesting he should host this year’s Emmy Awards.
In an interview with TMZ, the Blindspotting star remarked: “This may seem wild — and I’m not sure he’d accept — [but] I believe 50 Cent should be the host of the Emmys.” He’s humorous … and worthy. Why not give it a try?
50 quickly learned of Davis’ remarks and expressed genuine interest in becoming the host for the awards that evening.
He posted on Instagram: “@deraydavis this is awesome, your words really made my day. The year 2025 is going to be significant. “Lower the volume for what!”
Although 50 Cent lacks presenting experience, he is seasoned in performance and has just completed his inaugural concert residency in Las Vegas.
The six-show run had mixed reactions, however, a notably severe review from renowned Las Vegas blogger Star Fish gained widespread attention.
“I watched 50 Cent perform in warehouses in Memphis, TN (my hometown) many years ago, and it was simply enchanting.” She wrote on Instagram that his brief stay in Las Vegas was entirely different from that.
“The audio was poorly balanced, rendering the performance inaudible.” His hypemen were incessant and domineering, making it hard to hear anything beyond their echoes. The stage design and graphics appeared as if they were arranged just 15 minutes prior to the show using a Chat GPT prompt for ’90’s hip hop visuals.’
In the lead-up to this performance, 50’s PR team indicated that it would be a memorable evening brimming with excitement and surprises. The sole unexpected aspect was the absence of energy. There was nearly no audience involvement; the requests for an ‘encore’ started 63 minutes into the show, and he came back for another 15 minutes before abruptly exiting the stage without even a thank you.
50 later responded to the criticism, stating that he offers a different kind of performance compared to Usher and Chris Brown.
“They remarked that the audio was poor,” he stated with a grin during the last performance of his residency at PH Live, a location within Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
“I told her, ‘Hey, you should have said something like, ‘50 does this stuff’ [gestures with hand in the air repeatedly].” That’s what I’m going to do! Avoid saying the music was poor. Forget all that, dude.
Fif remarked: “Did you really believe I’d be out here rollerblading like Usher?” I witnessed some things; Chris Brown was flying over Africa. “I don’t possess documentation that necessitates my traveling by air in Africa.”
