A multiple collision occurred in Ketu, inward Ojota, Lagos State, injuring around 15 passengers.

Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), acknowledged this in a statement released on Friday.

Mr Oke-Osanyintolu stated that the accident was reported via the state’s toll-free emergency numbers, 767 and 112.

He stated that LASEMA’s response team from the Command and Control Centre, C3, Alausa, rushed to the spot.

“They arrived at the scene of the three-vehicle crash under the Ojota Interchange Bridge around 11:40 a.m.

“On arrival, it was discovered that the accident involved a BRT bus with registration number EXY-167XY, an articulated truck with an unknown registration number, and an 18-seater commercial bus with registration number JJJ-439YG.”

“The articulated vehicle was loaded with a 40-foot container.

“Further investigations revealed that the articulated truck, while heading inward Ketu, suddenly lost control of motion,” according to him.

He further stated that the vehicle veered off its lane and crashed with the BRT bus, which was approaching Ojota from the opposite direction.

“The BRT then skidded off its lane into the service lane, colliding with the yellow commercial bus.”

“Fifteen individuals were hurt. No critical injuries or fatalities were reported.

“The BRT bus suffered significant damage to the front and rear ends, and the tractor head of the truck was also damaged,” according to him.

He stated that the injured people were sent to local hospitals for treatment. The LASEMA spokesman stated that the agency’s pre-hospital care team treated four people at the accident scene.

“The articulated vehicle was rescued from the road and transported to the LASTMA yard in Oshodi.

“The BRT bus was recovered off the road to the BRT yard in Ojota, while the yellow commercial bus was driven off by its owner,” he stated.

He stated that the road had been cleared for automobile use.
